Guardian Turns Predator: SRA Puts 2,500 Families’ Housing Dreams In Jeopardy In Worli

Worli Redevelopment Thrown Into Turmoil as SRA Action Rekindles Decades-Old Uncertainty.

A long-delayed slum redevelopment project in Mumbai’s Worli, offering hope to nearly 2,500 families after almost three decades, has been thrown back into uncertainty by sudden administrative action. Despite securing all statutory approvals in October 2024 and commencement of on-ground construction, SRA CEO issued a Section 13(2) notice seeking removal of the developer mid-project.

The timing and absence of transparent justification have alarmed residents, already scarred by years of stalled promises. Allegations of coercive pressure and financial impropriety have deepened concern, prompting appeals to Devabhau, Hon’ble CM for urgent intervention to uphold due process and prevent another generational betrayal of rehabilitation rights.
